FAQ

FAQ Counseling Lake Oswego, OR

Do you offer Telehealth sessions or In Person therapy sessions?

Yes, I offer both. If needed, I use a secure HIPAA compliant Telehealth platform for virtual therapy sessions for Oregon residents only. I also meet individuals and couples in my office in Lake Oswego. Let’s discuss the best option for you. Please reach out here with any questions.

Do you take my insurance?

I am not contracted with any insurance companies. Insurance companies require a diagnosis of you when you may not need one, require proof as to why you need sessions, and dictate the number of sessions they think you should have. If you would like to use insurance benefits, I can provide a Superbill which you can submit to your insurance company for Out of Network benefits. You must verify this with your insurance provider. What are your fees for counseling services?

I charge $170 for a clinical hour, which is 50 minutes. For longer sessions for individuals or couples, I bill in per minute increments up to the agreed upon time per session. We will decide in our first session what session length is appropriate for you and/or your partner or family member(s), and know that this can be adjusted going forward. How often do we meet for counseling?

Evidence shows that weekly sessions result in the best outcomes for clients. I want great outcomes for you, so I do recommend weekly sessions at first. Biweekly is an option after you feel that you are making significant progress towards your goals.

How long does therapy take?

That depends! Some clients have a specific goal in mind and it might take 8-10 sessions to reach that goal if they are focused and dedicated. Other clients realize that their goals are more broad and they want to dig deeper and make bigger changes, and thus the working phase takes longer. And still others want ongoing support over time and choose to come regularly for many months. Let’s discuss what your needs are, and we can determine the appropriate length of time for you to reach your goals and make the changes you need.

What kind of results can I expect from therapy?

There is a lot that contributes to therapeutic results. The relationship between you and myself will be the biggest contributor to that success, so trust and communication are key. After that, your openness, commitment, time and energy put into the work of therapy, in the session and at home, will greatly increase the outcomes and get you the results you are looking for. As your therapist, I also offer my time, energy and commitment to you, along with my knowledge, my understanding of the issues at hand, and help you implement the skills you need to make changes. The results most often are relief from anxiety, less fighting and chaos, and more clarity on yourself and progress towards the direction you want to take in your life.
