Parenting Coaching & Support

Navigating the transitions with our children as they grow develop is an ongoing challenge. Get support, proven methods, and accountability as you create the family you long for.  You are the expert on your child, and parent coaching can help take that knowledge, combine it with a plan, some structure, and new ideas to make the effective changes needed.

In addition, parenting a non-neurotypical kid who has sensory challenges, learning challenges, and sensitivities calls for an additional level of support.  Let us help you navigate these additional challenges as well.

Family Therapy

Family Therapy can be helpful when family life needs some extra help getting back on track. Often times, a new style or depth of communication is needed.

As kids grow up, new challenges often arise, and parents are often puzzled when old strategies are no longer effective and conflict is erupting.

Therapy can be a way of gathering the family, parents and children/teens, to colloboratively find a new way of communicating, connecting and addressing the current challenges. Our families are our number one place for safety and security, and plays a important role in our emotional, physical and spiritual development.

Let me know how I can help your family be even stronger! Feel free to call with any questions about Family Therapy 503-327-6971.

Older Children/Pre-teen Therapy

While younger children may not have the language to talk about what is bothering them, older children (age 10-12) are learning to be in touch with what thoughts and feelings they have.  With a combination of activities and talking, we can help them to communicate their feelings, learn to manage emotions,  learn new skills such as managing conflict, talk about divorce or bullying or learn strategies to communicate with friends, teachers, and parents.  Also understanding more about learning differences, giftedness, ADHD, and anxiety can be helpful.

Teen Therapy

For teens age 13-18, having a safe place to talk about any issue can be helpful.  Teens want to be more independent from parents, yet that independence can be confusing for both parent and child.  Teen therapy can help with sorting out thoughts and feelings, learning new social skills, understanding emerging parts of their identity, self esteem, getting strategies to help with anxiety, depression, or ADHD, and much more.  This is also a time for parents to gather additional resources and support if needed.

If you or someone you know could benefit from Child/ Teen Therapy, feel free to call HeartWise Counseling Services at 503-327-6971.
